Community. Unity. Student. Athlete. OVC.
Now in its seventh decade of competition, the Ohio Valley Conference has grown significantly from its humble beginnings in 1948. Throughout its 75 years, the OVC has consistently grown and diversified the opportunities it provides its student-athletes, while encouraging sportsmanship, fair play, and academic achievement.
Student-athletes are given four opportunities to be recognized for their academic pursuits including the Academic Achievement Award, the Team Achievement Award, the Academic Medal of Honor and the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athlete(s) who achieve the highest GPA in conference-sponsored sports. During the 2021-2022 Academic school year, 285 students won the Academic Medal of Honor with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Over the past five years, over 1,200 student athletes have received the Academic Medal of Honor.
Additionally, the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll is presented annually to student-athletes with at least a 3.25 GPA.
The Academic Achievement Award is awarded annually to the Ohio Valley Conference member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes earning a 3.25 grade point average or higher for that academic year.
The OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards are presented annually in each of the 17 conference-sponsored sports to the team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes earning a 3.25 grade point average or higher.
