#5 MOREHEAD STATE 11, #4 SIUE 6
JACKSON, Tenn.
- Morehead State scored three times in the first inning on its way to an 11-6 victory over No. 4 seed SIUE in the opening game of the 2014 OVC Baseball Championship.

The victory was the first for Morehead State (29-26) at the OVC Championship since 2009 (snapping a three-game losing streak).

Senior Bobby Burns went 4-for-6 with three RBI while the OVC hit leader Brandon Rawe had three base knocks to increase his season total to 97 (11 away from tying the OVC single-season record).

OVC All-Freshman team selection Luke Humphreys (5-2) picked up the victory, allowing four hits and four runs (three earned) in five innings of work.

Morehead State will now play No. 2 seed Tennessee Tech at 3 p.m. on Thursday while SIUE will face No. 3 seed Jacksonville State in an elimination game at 11 a.m.

#6 EASTERN ILLINOIS 2, #3 JACKSONVILLE STATE 1
JACKSON, Tenn.
- Junior Matt Borens allowed just two hits over 8.2 innings to lift No. 6 seed Eastern Illinois to a 2-1 victory over No. 3 seed Jacksonville State on Wednesday at the OVC Baseball Championship.

Eastern Illinois will now face No. 1 seed Southeast Missouri on Thursday night (7 p.m.) while Jacksonville State will take on SIUE in an elimination game on Thursday morning (11 a.m.)

Borens threw 125 pitches and had a shutout going until two outs in the ninth inning when JSU sophomore Paschal Petrongolo doubled home Gavin Golsan. The hit went down the leftfield line and was scored a ground rule double, preventing the game-tying run from scoring.

Following the play Borens (6-4) made way for closer Troy Barton who struck out Ryan Sebra to end the game; Barton picked up his eighth save of the victory with the strikeout.

Mitch Gasbarro's double in the eighth inning proved to be the game-winner.  He had one of EIU's three hits on the day while JSU managed two in the pitcher's duel.
