#2 TENNESSEE TECH 14, #5 MOREHEAD STATE 2
JACKSON, Tenn. - Tennessee Tech scored five times in the first two innings on its way to a 14-2 victory over Morehead State on Thursday at the 2014 OVC Baseball Championship.

An RBI single by Dylan Bosheers got the Golden Eagles on the board in the first inning before senior 3B Daniel Miles smashed a monster three-run home run in the second inning. That marked the first round tripper of the OVC Tournament.
Junior David Hess (9-3) allowed just two hits over six innings of work in picking up his ninth victory of the season (tied for the OVC lead).
Matt Anderson (2-8) took the loss, allowing 10 runs in 4.2 innings of work.

#1 SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 8, #6 EASTERN ILLINOIS 6
JACKSON, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri scored three times in the sixth inning to break open a close game and then held on in a wild ninth inning to defeat Eastern Illinois 8-6 on Thursday night at the OVC Baseball Championship.

The 37 overall victories ties the Southeast Missouri single-season record also set in 2000 and 2002.
The Redhawks struck for a run in the bottom of the first before the Panthers tied the game in the third. After adding a lone run in the fourth, Southeast scored three times in the sixth. In that inning Scott Mitchell had RBI single that was followed by an Andy Lack RBI double and a Jason Blum RBI groundout. An inning later Clayton Evans and Mitchell singled home runs to push the advantage to 7-1.
But Eastern Illinois fought back with two runs in the eighth and three runs in the ninth inning before seeing a runner picked off at first base and the game end as Brant Valach was tagged out at second base trying to stretch a single into a double.
Mitchell finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBI for Southeast. Valach had three hits to lead the EIU attack.
Alex Winkelman improved to 6-2 on the season in allowing seven hits and three runs over eight innings. Joe Greenfield (6-6) took the loss, allowing four runs in 5.1 innings.
