The 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship continues with three scheduled games on Friday.

The day will began with No. 3 Jacksonville State defeating No. 6 Eastern Illinois, 13-2 and turning around to defeat Morehead State, 7-1.  In the nightcap, No. 2 Tennessee State beat No. 1 Southeast Missouri, 9-2.

This season marks the 36th time the event has been held and the fifth year in a row it has been held at The Ballpart at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park) in Jackson, Tenn. The venue is home of the Jackson Generals, the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

The entire tournament is being streamed live and free of charge on the OVC Digital Network. The games are available in HD and available on any computer, tablet or smart phone.

#3 JACKSONVILLE STATE 13, #6 EASTERN ILLINOIS 2
JACKSON, Tenn.
- Jacksonville State scored eight runs in the first two innings to avoid elimination in topping Eastern Illinois 13-2 on Friday at the OVC Baseball Championship.

Jacksonville State (32-25) will return to the field to play No. 5 seed Morehead State in an elimination game at 3 p.m. today.

Eastern Illinois ends its season at 22-33-1.

Sophomore Paschal Petrongolo had four hits and drove in three runs on the afternoon.  He smashed a two-run home run in the second inning and three batters later Tyler Gamble went yard to increase the lead. Gamble finished the day 4-for-5 with four RBI.
Casey Antley (3-4) tossed his first career complete game for the Gamecocks, allowing nine hits and two earned runs while striking out five.

Christian Slazinik (1-2) took the loss, allowing three runs in two-thirds of an inning to start.

#3 JACKSONVILLE STATE 7, #5 MOREHEAD STATE 1
JACKSON, Tenn.
- Facing elimination for the second game in a row Jacksonville State topped Morehead State 7-1 on Friday at the OVC Baseball Championship.

In its two elimination game victories on Friday Jacksonville State (33-25) scored 20 combined runs and had 32 total hits.

The Gamecocks now advance to play Southeast Missouri Saturday at Noon.

Griff Gordon got the scoring started by tripling in a run in a two-run first inning and added a RBI-single up the middle two innings later. Gordon finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI.

Paschal Petrongolo added a sacrifice fly in the first inning and had a RBI-single in the third inning. He was 2-for-4 for the game.

After getting a complete game from Casey Antley in Friday’s opener, Adam Polk pitched seven strong innings for JSU against MSU. Polk (5-4) scattered six hits and allowed just one run.

Luke Schneider (2-4) took the loss in allowing seven hits and four runs in 2.1 innings.

Morehead State (29-28) was led at the plate by Robby Spencer who had two hits.

#2 TENNESSEE TECH 9, #1 SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 2
JACKSON, Tenn.
-  Tennessee Tech freshman Evan Fraliex pitched seven solid innings and the Golden Eagles scored five times in the ninth inning to break open a close game in topping Southeast Missouri 9-2 on Friday night.

With the victory the Golden Eagles (40-17) tied the school record for victories and advanced to the Championship Round of the 2014 OVC Baseball Championship. They will meet the winner of tomorrow's Southeast Missouri/Jacksonville State elimination game at 4 p.m.; win and TTU will claim its fourth OVC Tournament Championship and first since 2009.

Fraliex (4-0) remained undefeated on the season in keeping the potent Southeast Missouri (37-19) attack off-balance. The OVC All-Freshman selection allowed just three hits and struck out four while walking only one. Seth Lucio came on to pitch the final two innings and pick up his 10th save of the season.

Daniel Miles, who finished the game 3-for-5, drove in two runs in the third inning as Tech scored three times to grab the early advantage.

Neither team would add any more runs until the seventh when the Redhawks scored on a Derek Gibson sacrifice fly and a Dalton Hewitt single up the middle.

But TTU would add a long run in the eighth before adding the five insurance runs in the ninth.

Southeast Missouri's Travis Hayes, the OVC Co-Pitcher of the Year, struck out 11 in eight innings of work.
