SIUE defeated Eastern Kentucky, 1-0, to win the 2016 OVC Soccer Championship. It marks the Cougars' second tournament title.
With the win, SIUE earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars will find out who they will play during the selection show tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
Less than three minutes into the match, SIUE's Lindsey Fencel scored the lone goal off an assist from Emily Grahl. It was Fencel's second goal of the season.
The Cougars' Juli Rossi made five saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
Eastern Kentucky goalkeeper Anna Hall made nine stops, giving up one goal. The Colonels finished the season with a 13-5-1 overall mark.
