OVC Players of the Week- August 30
 
Offensive
Peyton Murphy, MF, 5-8, Fr.,  Bargersville, Ind. – Southern Indiana
Murphy picked up her first career hat trick in a 4-0 USI win against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Murphy scored the first in the 26th after a fake to shake off the defender. She scored her second four minutes into the second half on a combination play, and her third goal was on a short cross just above the top of the six-yard box. Murphy’s assist came in a 1-1 draw at Northern Illinois . Murphy connected with senior Taylor Hall on a 2-on-1 break to get past the Huskies’ defense and goalkeeper in the 53rd minute.

Defensive
Zoe Paxton , D, 5-6, Fr., Zion, Ill. – Eastern Illinois
Paxton helped shore up the Panthers backline as they posted another pair of shutouts to extend the streak to four straight shutouts to open the season.  Paxton played 71 of 90 minutes on Thursday at Indiana State as the Panthers did not allow a second half shot on goal to the Sycamores in a 0-0 draw. On Sunday in a 0-0 tie at UIC she was one of two field players to play all 90 minutes.  EIU’s defense helped not allow a goal and played the final four minutes of the match a player down due to a red card.

Goalkeeper
Daniela Bermeo, GK, 5th year, Barcelona, Spain - Eastern Illinois
Bermeo turned in two more clean sheets to open the season as Eastern Illinois set a program record with its fourth straight shutout.  In Thursday’s 0-0 draw with Indiana State Bermeo stopped by Sycamore shots on goal with EIU’s defensive backline not allowing a second half shot on goal.  On Sunday Bermeo was up to the task in net stopping eight shots on goal during a 0-0 draw with UIC.  The Panthers played the final four minutes of the contest a player down due to a red card.
