MOREHEAD STATE 2, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 2
MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State scored two early second half goals, but 110 minutes would not be enough to decide it, as the Eagles and the Redhawks tied, 2-2.
The Redhawks scored the lone first half goal on a penalty kick in the 16th minute. Freshman Lauren Kaempfe got free on a breakaway and collided with goalie Kaitlynn Murphy. Murphy was called for a foul inside the box and SEMO was awarded a penalty kick. Junior forward Angie Mann took the kick and delivered it to the top left corner of the net, where Murphy was able to get a hand on it, but it still got through for the 1-0 score.
After a first half that saw just one shot from the Eagles, they turned up the tempo quickly in the second. In the first minute of the second, freshman Dani Wilson found fellow freshman Abby Timm, who got free and delivered the ball underneath the goalie to knot the match at one. Then in the 60th minute, Timm and Wilson did it again, only they swapped roles. This time Timm found Wilson, who sent the ball into the left corner of the net, past the outstretched arm of the goalie, for the 2-1 lead.
But, the Redhawks would answer back in the 77th minute. Following a 25-yard lead pass, Kaempfe's header found the bottom left corner of the net to even the match at two.
Both teams would threaten in overtime, but neither would score, and the match ended in a 2-2 tie.
UT MARTIN 2, TENNESSEE TECH 1
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman Maggie Burkett scored her first career-game winning goal with 33 seconds left to lift the University of Tennessee at Martin women’s soccer team to a 2-1 comeback victory on the road against conference rival Tennessee Tech.
The dramatic winning goal began at the feet of Saphyra Coombs-James who fought off a pair of defenders to push the ball wide to Katelyn Colvin. Colvin dribbled the ball into box and crossed it in front of the Tennessee Tech goal. Burkett raced from the far side and dove at the ball, pushing the ball off her shin guard and into the net for her third career goal.
The goal completed the comeback for UT Martin (6-10, 4-4 OVC) in a match that saw the Skyhawks attempt 23 shots and place a season-high 11 on frame. Along with Burkett’s winning goal, the first of her career, Lisa Schmieder found the back of the net for her fifth of the season. Colvin set up both Skyhawk goals to push her assists to three, while Coombs-James and Burkett each assisted on goals.
The victory by UT Martin gives the Skyhawks 12 points in Ohio Valley Conference standings, tied for fifth place with Southeast Missouri.
Tennessee Tech (7-7-3, 5-3 OVC) saw goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann turn in a top performance, making nine saves in the loss.

Coombs-James nearly opened the scoring in the 19th minute as a header served in by Shelby Coleman was tipped away by Golden Eagle goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann.
Minutes later UT Martin goalkeeper MaKenzie Crawford was called upon to keep the match scoreless as she went post to post to prevent a goal from Zoie Hensely.
With time winding down in the first half a quick play proved to be a goal in favor of Tennessee Tech. Kalyn Pruett started it with a quick throw in toward Mackenzie Miller who made a quick backward pass. The pass set up a 20-yard shot from Taylor Sutton who scored just inside the crossbar and into the top left corner.
UT Martin continued to press for a goal early in the final half, earning four scoring chances in a five minute span including a close range shot by Olivia Bohlman that was stopped by a diving Naerdemann.
The Skyhawks would break through on its 18th shot of the match with an equalizer in the 70th minute. After an attack by Tennessee Tech, Maggie Burkett began the counter attack finding Katelyn Colvin in the middle of the field. The freshman passed it wide to Schmieder who dribbled into the box. With little room for error the Elzach, Germany bent her cross into the top left corner of the net to tied the match at 1-1.
