MURRAY STATE 1, AUSTIN PEAY 0
MURRAY, Ky.
- Murray State women’s soccer wrapped up its two-game homestand with a Battle of the Border rivalry match with Austin Peay on Tuesday afternoon. The Racers improved to 5-0 on the year behind their first clean sheet of the campaign as they earned a 1-0 victory over the Governors at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky.

Marti Floyd put the Racers in front in the 27th minute when she finished a cross from Rebecca Kubin, as the Battle Creek, Michigan native recorded her first goal in a Racer uniform and became the eighth different player to score for Murray State through five matches in the new campaign. The Racers carried that one-goal advantage into the halftime break after outshooting the Governors 5-2 while holding 58% of possession through the first 45.

The Racers dictated the tempo while continuing to create scoring chances out of the break, generating 15 second-half shots, but it would be the rock-solid back line that stole the spotlight on the day as they preserved the clean sheet to grind out three points behind a 1-0 score line.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Villacres made three saves to earn her first shutout of the campaign, while the Racer defense held Austin Peay to just eight total shots on the day.

Murray State has now outscored opponents 12-5 on the season. For Kubin, the assist on the day brings her season point total to a team-high eight (three goals, two assists) on the year.

MOREHEAD STATE 1, UT MARTIN 0
MOREHEAD, Ky
. -  Morehead State Soccer is in the win column after an afternoon of tight defense and offensive execution against OVC rival UT Martin. Freshman forward Abby Wesselkamper scored her first career goal in the 77th minute to propel the Eagles to victory.

Junior goalkeeper Michelle Jerantowski picked up five shots in the net to earn her first career shutout. Her GAA of 1.20 for the season would be the fourth-highest in program history.

Morehead State had a pair of near-goals in the 25th minute as a header from Katie Kiolbassa hit sharply off the post before Anna Lohrer's first career shot was saved by the UT Martin goalkeeper.

A diving save by Jerantowski prevented a goal by the Skyhawks in the 41st minute of play.

Physical play was a central part of the second half as UT Martin's Kamryn Chappell was given a yellow card in the 53rd minute before MSU's Eva Kiper picked up a card of her own ten minutes later.

The Skyhawks had their best opportunity for a goal in the 71st minute as their forward got behind the Morehead State defense before her shot was sent right into Jerantowski's hands.

Less than 30 seconds after coming in as a substitution, freshman Abby Wesselkamper snuck the ball by the UT Martin goalkeeper as it bounced off the post and slowly slid past the goal line to give Morehead State a 1-0 lead.
