MLB Draft Tracker

Southeast Missouri All-American pitcher Dylan Dodd, the 2021 OVC Pitcher of the Year, was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the Third Round of the 2021 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Dodd was the 96th overall pick of this year's draft.  He is the second OVC player drafted this year, joining Eastern Illinois shortstop Trey Sweeney, who was selected by the New York Yankees in Sunday's First Round.

Dodd and Sweeney are two of just 11 OVC players ever selected in the first three rounds of the MLB Draft. This year marks the first time two OVC players have been drafted in the top three rounds of the same Draft.

Dodd is the highest drafted player in SEMO baseball history. In addition to being named OVC Pitcher of the Year he was tabbed a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

Dodd started 15 games this season, including the team's NCAA Regional game at Ole Miss. He compiled a 9-2 record and 3.17 E.R.A. in 96.2 innings while striking out 120 batters with only 17 walks. He has struck out eight or more in 12 of his 15 starts, including a season-high 11 vs. Murray State (May 27) at the OVC Tournament. Dodd struck out 10 at both Arkansas (Feb. 25) and SIU Edwardsville (Mar. 12), as well.

Nationally, Dodd ranked 14th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.06), 22nd in victories (9), 23rd in strikeouts (120), 37th in walks allowed per nine innings (1.58) and 69th in WHIP (1.06).  Additionally, he led the OVC in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts and games started.

This year there are 20 rounds in the MLB Draft, down from the traditional 40 rounds prior to last year. The 1st Round was on Sunday, the 2nd through 10th Rounds were held on Monday and the 11th through 20th Rounds will be held on Tuesday.
