HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Trojans pitched their fifth shutout in six games Wednesday afternoon as Little Rock (3-3-2) defeated Alabama A&M (2-5) by a score of 1-0 in Huntsville, Alabama with freshman goalkeeper Peyton Urban collecting a pair of saves in the process.
Midfielder Amaya Arias scored the lone goal of the day for either side in the 15th minute after gaining possession of a loose ball in front of the net. This goal was the second for Arias on the year with her first coming in the game against Arkansas Pine Bluff back on August 28. The Downey, California native is tied for the team lead for shots taken this season as well as goals scored.
Little Rock appeared to return to form in this match after dropping last Sunday's contest. The Trojans started off hot with an early goal and six shots in the first half and then carried their momentum after the intermission to take seven more shots against the Alabama A&M defense. Overall, Little Rock outshot the Bulldogs 13-3 with eight of those 13 shots being on goal.
The freshmen led the way for Little Rock's offense Thursday as Arias, Madison Eisner and Bronte Peel combined for seven of the eight shots on goal for the Trojans.
Little Rock Soccer is back in action on Sunday with a trip up to St. Charles, Missouri to take on Lindenwood in the first Ohio Valley Conference competition for any Trojan team. The game against the Lions is slated to kick off at noon and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
