TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - While the final score wasn't in their favor, Morehead State soccer still put up a valiant fight as the Eagles ended their 2023 season with a 5-0 setback at No. 1 Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night.
The Eagles wrapped up head coach
Chris Fox's second season at 9-6-5, the program's best mark since 2015. Florida State was the tournament's overall No. 1 seed and scored twice in the first 45 minutes before finding the back of the net three more times in the final 45.

Erin Gibbs stopped a career-high11 shots as the Seminoles sent 16 her way and 31 total shots. Fifth-years

Chelsea Elmore did manage shots for the Eagles.
Before the 'Noles scored in the 35th minute, MSU had a streak of more than 600 straight minutes without allowing an :opponent generated" goal.
Morehead State had plenty of accolades during the season, including having the program's most all-conference selections since 1999. MSU also had nine shutouts, which is the second highest single-season total.
MSU also ended the regular season and OVC Tournament with six straight wins, the longest winning streak since 2010.
