Due to Lindenwood's reclassification process to Division I and its ineligibility for NCAA postseason events, the OVC's automatic bid to the Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will go to
Morehead State, the OVC Tournament runner-up (who lost to Lindenwood in Tuesday's tournament final).
When Lindenwood and Southern Indiana joined the OVC prior to the 2022-23 school year, policies were put into place regarding automatic qualifiers for NCAA Championships as each school is in a four-year reclassification process to Division I and ineligible for NCAA operated events.
Below is the policy as it relates to volleyball:
The Conference automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament shall be determined by a Conference tournament at the conclusion of the regular season involving a select number of teams. Teams representing the OVC in post season may not be subject to an NCAA academic or infractions post-season ban If a member transitioning from Division II to Division I wins the championship and is not eligible to represent the conference in an NCAA tournament, or an otherwise eligible institution wins the Conference tournament but is unable to participate in the NCAA championship, the tournament runner-up shall be the conference AQ representative. Should the runner-up not be eligible or unable to participate, the AQ representative shall be the third placed team. Where the third placed team cannot be determined the AQ representative shall be the semifinalist that had the highest remaining seed going into the tournament.
Morehead State will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time (2011, 2013, 2020, 2024).
