- Junior shortstop Robby Spencer delivered a two-out RBI single in the top of the 12th to lead the Morehead State baseball team to a 11-10 win over Murray State in the series finale on Monday at Reagan Field.

Morehead State, which led 9-0 after three innings, avoided the series sweep and improved to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Thoroughbreds slipped to 7-6 overall and 2-1 in the league.

Spencer, who hit in the leadoff spot for the Eagles, finished 4-for-7 with a career-best four RBI. He had batted in the sixth spot the previous two games.

Morehead State plated two in the first frame and scored seven times in the third inning, sending 10 batters to the plate, to secure the 9-0 advantage. The Eagles led 10-3 after their half of the fourth, but the 'Breds plated a pair of runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and three more in the sixth to creep to within 10-9.

Murray State tied the game in the eighth inning with two outs. A fielding error allowed the tying run to score. Both teams committed four miscues.

Morehead State sophomore pitcher Craig Pearcy (1-1) allowed only one hit and struck out seven batters in five innings of relief to collect his first win of the year.

Cody Maerz, the Thoroughbreds' fourth hurler, allowed the go-ahead run and slipped to 1-2. Andrew Bramley got a no-decision despite surrendering just one run in 6.1 innings for the hosts.

Spencer opened the third frame with a flyout, but later smacked a two-run double to score the eighth and ninth runs. Junior catcher Chris Robinson notched an RBI single, plating junior first baseman Kane Sweeney. Junior left fielder Nick Newell laid down a sacrifice bunt to score senior third baseman Jeff Birkofer, and junior second baseman Tyler Bigler scored on a throwing error.

Robinson had a pair of hits to extend his hitting streak to a team-high 11 games, while junior right fielder Brandon Rawe recorded a single to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Dalton West paced Murray State's 13-hit day with three. Luke Daugherty recorded three RBI.
