OVC Players of the Week

PLAYER
Kam Edwards, OF • 5-9, 175, Sr. • Lake Charles, La. • Lindenwood

In four games last week against Butler, Edwards hit .647 (11-for-17) with six runs scored, two doubles, a home run, six RBI, four walks, a steal, a .727 on-base percentage and 941 slugging percentage. Edwards had three or more hits in three of the Lions four games last week, including going 5-of-6 in the third game of the series. In that game he had a double and home run and drove in three runs. He was 3-for-4 with three RBI in the opener and capped the weekend by going 3-for-3 with a run scored. Edwards currently leads the OVC with a .441 batting average.

PITCHER
Josh Newell, RHP • 6-2, 190, Jr. • St. Charles, Mo. • Lindenwood

Newell improved to 3-1 on the season by pitching 6.1 innings in a series opening victory over Butler. He scattered five hits (four singles) and struck out five batters while only allowing one walk and one earned run. In the middle of the game he retired 14 of 17 batters he faced.

Other Notable Performers
Below are other notable performances from the past week.

Davis Germann (OF, R-So.), Morehead State. Hit .467 (7-15) with five runs scored, two home runs and six RBI. Had two home runs and five RBI in Saturday's game at South Carolina.

Spencer Stearns (RHP, R-So.), SIUE. Combined with two other pitchers in a shutout victory over Omaha. Went five innings and allowed only one hit while striking out four.

Karsten Stotlar (P, Jr.), Western Illinois. Picked up two saves in a weekend series at Murray State. Pitched 5.1 innings, allowing only two hits while striking out two.

Bradley Poynter (RHP, So.), Morehead State. Held SEC foe South Carolina to just one run over seven innings.

Cole Kitchens (DH, Jr.), Southern Indiana. Smashed .727 (8-11) with two runs scored, two doubles, a home run and three RBI at Oral Roberts. Had four hits in series finale and for the week he slugged 1.182.

Cole Warehime (INF, Jr.), Southeast Missouri. In two games against Indiana State, hit .400 (6-15) with two runs scored and five RBI.
