Now in its 73rd year, the Ohio Valley Conference continues to build on the success that has made it the nation's eighth-oldest NCAA Division I conference. Over those 73 years the League has inspired student-athletes to realize their academic aspirations, maximize their athletics potential, and cultivate their leadership skills to prepare them for life beyond their collegiate experience.
As part of a new partnership with
GameTime Hydration, each week through the rest of the academic year, we will honor an OVC student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom, in addition to earning accolades on the playing surface.
This week's honoree is Southeast Missouri senior defensive back
Bydarrius Knighten. He was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2019-20 for his work in the classroom where he majoring in recreation & park administration.
In three games so far this year he has 13 tackles. He was a first-team All-OVC selection in 2018 after making 88 tackles, and a year ago he earned second-team All-OVC honors after making 75 tackles and netting three interceptions.
